1. About SoloSafe
SoloSafe is a personal safety timer application designed for solo travelers. Users set a check-in timer before engaging in activities. If the user does not check in by the deadline, SoloSafe sends automated alerts to user-designated emergency contacts via SMS, WhatsApp, and/or email with the user's last known location.
2. Eligibility
You must be 18 years or older to use SoloSafe. By using this service, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
3. How It Works
3.1 Users manually add emergency contacts (name, phone number, WhatsApp number, email).
3.2 Users set a timer duration (15 minutes to 12 hours) and activity type.
3.3 Users must manually check in before the deadline to cancel alerts.
3.4 If the user does not check in, SoloSafe automatically sends pre-written alert messages to all designated contacts.
3.5 Location data is collected ONLY at the moment the timer is started, not continuously tracked.
4. Consent and Opt-In
4.1 By adding a contact to SoloSafe, you certify that you have obtained explicit consent from that person to receive safety alerts on your behalf.
4.2 Emergency contacts are NOT subscribed to any marketing or promotional messages.
4.3 All messages sent by SoloSafe are transactional safety alerts only, triggered solely by user actions or missed check-ins.
5. Opt-Out for Contacts
Any emergency contact may opt out of receiving alerts by replying STOP to any SMS or WhatsApp message received from SoloSafe. Upon receiving STOP, we will block that number from all future alerts within 24 hours. To resume alerts, the user must remove and re-add the contact in-app.
6. Data We Collect
6.1 User account: email address, phone number.
6.2 Emergency contacts: name, phone number, WhatsApp number, email address.
6.3 Timer data: start time, deadline, activity type, start location (GPS coordinates).
6.4 We do NOT collect: continuous location, browsing history, contacts outside those manually added, payment information (handled by PayPal).
7. How We Use Data
7.1 To send safety alerts to your designated contacts.
7.2 To maintain timer records and app functionality.
7.3 To improve service reliability and troubleshoot errors.
7.4 We do NOT sell, rent, or share data with third parties for marketing or advertising.
8. Data Storage and Security
8.1 All data stored in Google Sheets with industry-standard encryption.
8.2 Location data retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
8.3 User accounts and contact lists retained until account deletion requested.
8.4 SMS/WhatsApp message content is logged for 30 days for delivery verification, then purged.
9. Third-Party Services
SoloSafe uses: Twilio (SMS and WhatsApp delivery), Make.com (automation and alert dispatching), Google Sheets (data storage), PayPal (payment processing), Glide (app platform). These services have their own privacy policies and security standards. We select providers compliant with GDPR and CCPA where applicable.
10. Limitation of Liability
10.1 SoloSafe is a tool, not a guarantee of safety or emergency response.
10.2 We are not responsible for: delayed alerts due to network failure, false alarms, user failure to check in, or contact unavailability, delayed or failed alerts due to the user's device being offline or in low-signal conditions at the time of timer expiry.
10.3 We are not a replacement for emergency services. In immediate danger, call local emergency numbers.
10.4 Service provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
11. User Responsibilities
11.1 Keep your account credentials secure.
11.2 Ensure emergency contacts are accurate and have consented to receive alerts.
11.3 Test the service before relying on it in critical situations.
11.4 Update contact information promptly when changes occur.
12. Subscription and Payments
12.1 Free tier: 3 timers per month, 2 contacts, SMS only.
12.2 Pro tier: $2.99/month or $29.99/year, unlimited timers, 5 contacts, SMS + WhatsApp + email.
12.3 Payments processed by PayPal. No payment data stored by SoloSafe.
12.4 Cancel anytime; access continues until period end.
13. Account Deletion
Request deletion by emailing support@solo-safe.com. We will remove all personal data within 7 business days, except where legally required to retain.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be notified via email.
15. Governing Law
These Terms governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
